Installing Windows Vista / 7 from USB flash drive

To install Windows Vista or Windows 7 from an USB flash drive you first need to make the USB flash drive bootable. The best way to do that is by using diskpart.

  1. Start Diskpart by typing diskpart in Search programs and files. then follow the steps bellow.
  2. DISKPART> list disk
  3. DISKPART> select disk (# on the disk that you want to use)
  4. DISKPART> clean
  5. DISKPART> create partition primary
  6. DISKPART> select partition 1
  7. DISKPART> active
  8. DISKPART> format fs=ntfs

When the format is done just copy the files from the DVD to the USB memory.

Start your computer and select to boot from USB.
